Welcome to some Really Cool Sh*t

The start of my new blog. I'd like to take this opportunity to give a few details about myself, and describe what I'm trying to do with this blog.

First a little about me. I'm married, 45, have two teenage kids and live in a suburb of Washington, DC. I'm originally from the midwest, but have lived a number of places in the US as well as Europe.

I'm a partner in an international logistics firm, with a lot of hobbies - including (but not limited to):
Writing (screenplays and fiction)
Computers (programming, gaming)
Game Design
Art (primarily computer 3d)
Fencing
RPGs and MMORPGs

I also have a keen interest in (in no particular order): Pirates, the Middle East, Air Forces and Air Defense, Mathematics of Quantum Physics, Music (primarily 80s New Wave and Ska), Reading, Electronics, Gadgets, and web design.

I was in the military and I speak both Arabic and Farsi, and have a limited knowledge (mostly limited reading ability) of French, German, Spanish, Italian as well as what I refer to as Taxi Greek.

So - on to the blog. What I'd really want to do with this is just to use it to talk about things which I find are really cool or interesting. I'm sure as it develops, the blog will probably touch on all of the things I have already mentioned, plus probably a number of other items - but the goal is to try and keep it interesting and focused on things that I think others might find cool as well.
